Biography
Lieutenant Michael Perry began his career in corrections in 2002, demonstrating a commitment to public safety and inmate rehabilitation. Over nearly two decades, his dedication and skill led to significant milestones. In 2011, Perry became a certified instructor at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, highlighting his expertise and passion for training future corrections officers.
His leadership qualities were recognized in 2019 when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. This advancement was a testament to his exceptional performance and his ability to inspire and lead his peers. Further solidifying his leadership credentials, Perry graduated from the prestigious 34th National Jail Leadership Command Academy in 2020, equipping him with advanced knowledge and strategies for managing correctional facilities effectively.
As a lead instructor for the Mechanics of Effective Restraint and Control modules, Perry plays a crucial role in training personnel across the State of Maine. His expertise ensures that correctional officers are well-prepared to handle challenging situations with professionalism and care. Additionally, his position on the Corrections Training Committee for the Maine Department of Corrections allows him to influence training programs and policies, continually improving the standards of correctional practice in Maine.
In addition, Lieutenant Michael Perry is actively involved in the community, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 327 and as an Advisory Board Member for the Sanford, Maine Backpack Program, a program that addresses food insecurity in school children. He also holds a position as an Advisory Board member of the Sanford, Maine Parks and Recreation Department. These community involvements showcase his dedication to public service and making a positive impact beyond his professional responsibilities. Perry’s career reflects a steadfast commitment to excellence in corrections, training, and community involvement.
