Biography
Captain Brooks joined the York County Sheriff’s Office in November 2023 as Director of Professional Standards. In this role, he is primarily tasked with conducting both criminal and administrative investigations within the correctional facility. He recently completed a 5-day specialized training course in Internal Affairs Investigations through the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA).
Captain Brooks began his law enforcement career in February 2003 with the Sanford Police Department after graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy from Colby College in May 2002. Throughout his 20 years of dedicated service to the Sanford Police Department, he gained and maintained the respect of fellow officers, superior officers, and citizens through his leadership qualities, work ethic, and professionalism. Captain Brooks retired from the Sanford Police Department in July 2023.
Captain Brooks grew up in Lisbon Falls, Maine where he attended Lisbon public schools. He lives locally with his wife and two sons, enjoys coaching youth baseball, and watching his sons’ sporting events.
