ALFRED, Maine – York County Commissioners elected a chair, vice chair and set fees for various items at their first meeting of the year Jan. 2.
The good news for York County consumers is that none of the fees will increase in 2025 – and at least one hasn’t increased since 2020.
Longtime commissioner Richard Dutremble of Biddeford was unanimously elected Chair for 2025 by his peers, marking the sixth time since 2007 he has been chosen to lead the five-member board. Commissioner Robert Andrews was elected Vice Chair – his third time in the role.
Commissioner Richard Clark was selected as a Workforce Center Director, and Commissioner Justin Chenette was selected to represent the county with the Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission – both are roles they have taken on in prior years.
Commissioners voted 4-1, with Chenette dissenting, to conduct their twice monthly meetings at 4:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month, with a change to Thursday June 20 because of the Juneteenth holiday the previous day, and to July 10, rather than the first Wednesday of that month. In June, July and August there will be one meeting, unless business requires a second.
Been in a motor vehicle crash and need a report? Commissioners voted that those fees would remain at $20 – the same as in 2021. Background fees were set at $20 – the 2023 rate. The cost to consumers for a notarized or attested document remains at the 2020 rate of $5 and $10, respectively.
The employee milage reimbursement rate was set at 67 cents per mile, the 2024 IRS rate, and the reimbursement rate for meals for employees attending an educational opportunity, conference or conducting other county business remained at the 2024 rate of $15 for breakfast, $20 for lunch and $25 for dinner.
